KCR, Chiranjeevi Hijack Festivities

Indeed, no politician worth his or her name resists an opportunity to miss a chance to steal the limelight.
Hyderabad | 25th December 2010
Indeed, no politician worth his or her name resists an opportunity to miss a chance to steal the limelight, with some politicos even hijacking the most solemn of occasions to push their political agendas forward.

On Saturday, Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao visited the Methodist Church at Abids to greet the members of the Christian community on the occasion of Christmas.

It was perhaps the numbers of people present there, or perhaps the thought of the Srikrishna Commission's report being submitted soon which was on KCR's mind, that made him deliver a purely political speech on the occasions.

The TRS chief promised the gathering that Christians would be given a prominent place in the Telangana cabinet once the state is bifurcated. He also promised that a plot of 500 square yards would be given to build a church in each big city in the new state.

KCR also told the devotees present in the Church that all their problems would be solved if they entered politics. The TRS chief added that next year, they would be celebrating Christmas in the new Telangana state.

KCR was not alone. Earlier in the day, Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi had cut a Christmas cake at the party office and told the gathering that the government must take an initiative to solve all the problems of rain-hit farmers. He also urged the state government to take immediate steps to protect the handloom industry by implementing the relevant laws.
