Modi Government Drove Farmers To Protest: Kavitha
TRS leader K Kavitha today accused the Modi government of driving the farmers of the nation to protest by implementing "anti-farmer" laws.

MLC and TRS leader K Kavitha today hit out at the Modi government for its "anti-farmer" policies, and claimed that it was the government's failure to assure the farmers of the country about the continuance of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system that had led to the massive protests being witnessed in many states.
The TRS leader added that it was the union government itself that had forced the farmers to take to the streets by bringing in "draconian" legislations that could destroy the country's mandi system.
"The union government is trying to destroy the existing open markets, the mandis, in the country. If the existing mandi system were to collapse because of the controversial farm Acts, the farmers would be left helpless as this would hinder them from selling their produce. Realising this, the farming community has been on the streets, braving the cold, for the past 11 days. The Centre must withdraw the laws because they have failed the farmers as they have no provisions securing agrarian livelihoods," she said.
Accusing the Modi government of indulging in "anti-people" and "anti-farmer" policy-making, the MLC demanded that the government start thinking of the farmers' welfare, and not of ways to destroy them with the new Acts.
She then said that unlike the union government, the TRS would stand by the farming community, and would support the December 8 Bharat Bandh announced by the protesting farmers.
"Our party leadership has taken the decision to support the Bharat Bandh to protest the Modi government's policies. We will also participate in it," she said.
