In response to the TRS government's decision yesterday to support the farmers' Bharat Bandh, Telangana Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today organised a bike rally in the city to protest against the Centre's farm laws.
Yadav slammed the union government for dismantling the MSP system, and accused it of hatching a conspiracy to harm the farmers and help corporates.
"The Modi government is destroying the MSP system, which has forced the farmers in Delhi to brave the severe cold for the last 13 days. The Centre should cancel the laws to help the farmers instead of helping big business and corporate companies. But it has turned a blind eye to their suffering. The TRS government, however, will oppose the three farm laws, and continue to protest till they are withdrawn," the minister said.
He then called upon the people of the state to oppose the controversial Acts, claiming that they were "anti-farmer" in nature.
Yadav also claimed that if the farmers continued their protests, the Centre would collapse, and demanded that it take immediate steps to resolve the current stalemate in Delhi.
Advising the Modi regime to emulate the TRS government, he said that the latter had offered Rs 7,300 crore to Telangana's farmers under the Rythu Bandhu scheme despite the constraints caused by the Covid-19 pandemic on the state's finances.
Other TRS leaders across the state also took to the streets to show their support for the protesting farmers - ministers Indrakaran Reddy and Dayakar Rao staged protests at the Kadthal highway and in Warangal district respectively, while Rythu Bandhu Samiti Chief Palla Rajeshwar Reddy led a rally in Khammam.
