3 devotees sustained injuries during a stampede at the Rathothsavam, celebrated from Ganesh Chaturthi as a part of the annual Brahmotsavam of Kanipakam Ganapati temple in Chittoor.
According to temple sources, MLA P Ravi on Saturday performed a puja in the temple and inaugurated the Rathothsavam as part of the Brahmotsavam this year.
Thousands of devotees turned up to witness the event. As devotees jostled to pull the chariot, 3 devotees fell and sustained injuries. However, security officials rushed to the spot immediately, and shifted the victims to a nearby hospital.
The condition of the injured is stated to be out of danger.
The Kanipakam Rathotsavam is conducted during the 21 days of Bramhotsavam, when devotees from each village surrounding Kanipakam worship the Lord with their puja items on each day.
