With this, the related pending works on the project may be speeded up for completion by next June. The project has already received the hydrological, forest, underground waters and construction machinery clearances from the Central Water Commission, Ministry of Water Resources; and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
When fully completed, the project will irrigate the north Telangana districts of Karimnagar, Rajanna Sircilla, Medak, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Siddipet, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Sangareddy, Jagtial, Medchal, Kamareddy, Nirmal and Peddapalle.
The clearance comes as a shot in the arm for the state government, and especially for the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao who has been personally monitoring the progress of the prestigious project. On a recent visit, the CM instructed officials to complete the project in time by working in three shifts, and warned them of action for any delay. Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, too, asked the officials to speed up works in the wake of final clearance from the Centre.
