Telangana Jagruthi president and MLC K Kavitha was arrested today along with her followers after they staged a rail roko at Kamareddy, demanding 42% reservations for BCs in Telangana.
The protesters reportedly sat on the railway tracks, raised slogans against the Congress government, and caused tension in the area.
Police and Railway Protection Force personnel intervened and detained Kavitha and several Jagruthi members.
Speaking after her detention, Kavitha accused the Telangana government of betraying the BC communities. She said that the Congress, despite promising a 42% BC quota, was conducting the panchayat elections with only 17% reservations.
She also alleged that both the Congress and the BJP were colluding to obstruct BC reservations.
