The BJP's Telangana unit suffered a setback ahead of the Lok Sabha elections when its leader from the city Vikram Goud, son of former minister Mukesh Goud, quit the party.
He sent his resignation letter today to the party's Telangana president and Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy.
Goud had aspired for the party ticket for the Goshamahal Assembly constituency in Hyderabad. However, the party leadership denied the ticket to him and gave it to its sitting MLA Raja Singh. Goud had been unhappy with the party with that, and had been staying away from party activities. He also reportedly realised that the chances for him to get the party's ticket for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections would be bleak.
In a letter written to Kishan Reddy, Goud said that the newcomers were seen as untouchables in the party, and that he had resigned from the party due to that pain.
Goud expressed grief that even though he had worked for the party without expecting anything, he had not been given recognition. He alleged that those who did not have any public image were dominating the party affairs, and the young and budding leaders were not getting any recognition.
There are speculations that Goud is planning to join the Congress soon.
