Film actor and former minister Babu Mohan today joined the Praja Shanti Party.
Party founder-president K A Paul invited him to the party by covering him with a scarf.
Babu Mohan had recently resigned from the primary membership of the BJP.
Speaking on the occasion, Paul said that Babu Mohan would contest for the Warangal Lok Sabha seat.
Babu Mohan too spoke, and severely criticized Telangana's BJP leaders.
Even before the Telangana Assembly elections, Babu Mohan had expressed his dissatisfaction with the party. The BJP finally gave him the ticket for the Andole constituency. Damodara Rajanarasimha, who contested from the Congress, eventually won that seat, and Babu Mohan was restricted to the third position.
From the 1990s to 2014, Babu Mohan was part of the Telugu Desam Party. In 1999 he contested from the TDP and won the Andole Assembly constituency seat. He later contested on behalf of the BRS in the 2014 Assembly elections and won. He was however not given the BRS ticket in 2018, and shifted to the BJP. It is noteworthy that he has now joined the Praja Santhi Party before the Lok Sabha elections.
The Central Election Commission is likely to announce the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections in a few days.
