Staff of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Tuesday announced the formation of a Joint Action Committee which would fight for a separate Telangana state.
At a meeting held at the Panwar Hall of the GHMC head office at Tank Bund, the newly formed JAC passed a resolution demanding the withdrawal of paramilitary forces from the Osmania University.
The first meeting of the JAC, presided over by K J Vijay Krishna, also saw another resolution being passed calling for all GHMC employees and workers to participate in agitations for achieving a separate Telangana state.
The JAC elected Tipparthi Yadaiah (Telangana Municipal Employees and Workers Association) as its Chairman, while G Mallikarjun was named the Convenor.
The Co-Chairmen have been named as G Shanker, U Gopal, E Venkatesham, and G Chenna Reddy.
