The exploratory meeting between the government of Andhra Pradesh and the delegation was to understand the policies of the State government.
The delegation consisted of all important economic organizations such as the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), New Energy and Industrial Technology Development (NEDO), Japan Embassy and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The delegation informed the Chief Minister that they would be meeting officials of 100 companies in New Delhi next month, and wanted a representation from Andhra Pradesh as a prelude to the CM's visit.
The delegation evinced interest in transfer of high-technology in the agriculture and food processing sectors, cold chains and food parks. They were also keen on an industrial park that would have a dedicated utility centre (DUC) project, in AP.
The delegation discussed their interest in a Delhi-Mumbai dedicated freight corridor and a Bangalore-Chennai industrial corridor.
They also expressed interest in building a smart capital city in the Vijayawada-Guntur region. That apart, they were also keen on power projects including a 4,000 MW thermal power plant in Visakhapatnam, a 4,000 MW thermal power plant in Srikakulam and a 2,000 MW solar power plant in Anantapur.
A joint working group has been constituted in this regard, including heads from the industry department, infrastructure department, energy department, and IT and agriculture department, Member of Parliament Y Satyanarayana Chowdary, and AP's special representative in Delhi K Rammohan Rao.
Consul General of Japan in Chennai Sugiyama, Oya of JBIC, Ishamata and Fukamiya from the Embassy of Japan, Ichiguchi of JICA, Abe of JETRO, and Tanka and Sidolgui of NEDO were present at the meeting. (INN)
