Telangana IT & Panchayat Raj minister K Taraka Rama Rao today slammed the comments of the Opposition leaders that defections were being encouraged by the ruling TRS.
Talking to mediapersons after meeting former minister and TDP leader K Vijayarama Rao at the latter's residence on Saturday, KTR sought to know whether K Jana Reddy did not switch loyalties from the Telugu Desam Party to the Congress.
Even Chandrababu Naidu was a minister in the Congress before jumping into the Telugu Desam Party, he recalled.
In a democracy, political leaders have a right to change Parties, and there was nothing wrong if one joined the ruling party for its good deeds, he remarked.
"How does it become wrong if the MPTCs and ZPTCs join the TRS when big leaders like Jana Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu join other Parties?" he demanded to know.
Responding to a query on the alleged threatening call to Congress leader Shabbir Ali, KTR asked why the TRS would need to resort to such acts.
"Our leaders and activists will not resort to such things as the TRS will rule the State for another three-and-a-half years," he said. "An inquiry is on into the issue and action will be taken against such callers."
