Senior Telangana leader and Congress MLC K R Amos on Thursday stated that the former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy launched popular welfare schemes for the benefit of poor and backward classes with financial help from the centre.
Criticizing former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, Amos told media persons in CLP Office that YSR had launched and continued welfare schemes by staying in the party, and being loyal to the High Command.
He said that Jaganmohan Reddy's Odarpu Yatra would serve no purpose except creating temporary excitement for a few hours.
Reacting to the resignation of Jaganmohan Reddy from his Lok Sabha seat and primary membership of the party, he said the former Kadapa MP could have raised people's problems by staying in the party.
"Jaganmohan Reddy could have effectively solved the problems of people by staying in the party," Amos said.
Amos had been Jaganmohan Reddy's ardent critic ever since he had announced the Odarpu Yatra.
Instead of installing statues of YSR by taking out the Odarpu yatra in various districts, Jaganmohan Reddy could do more good for the people by supporting the Congress party and working towards continuing the former Chief Minister's schemes, the MLC said.
Amos added that that since Jaganmohan Reddy had resigned and charged the state government of neglecting his father's pet schemes, he should find a way of implementing the same schemes.
