Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today released the funds of the third phase for the YSR Vahana Mitra Scheme.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today said that the state government had released the funds for the third phase of the YSR Vahana Mitra Scheme.
The CM launched the scheme virtually at his camp office in Tadepally. He recalled that he had witnessed firsthand the problems that were being faced by the auto-rickshaw and cab drivers of AP during his padayatra, and decided to launch the scheme after he came to power.
"Auto-rickshaw and cab drivers were harassed under the rule of the preceding TDP regime. But, with the support of my government, I have been able to fulfil a promise I made during my 3,648-km-long padayatra. Our government gives Rs 10,000 as monetary aid under the scheme to the beneficiaries. This year, Rs 248.47 crore have been credited into the bank accounts of 2.48 lakh beneficiaries already. Out of this, 84% of the beneficiaries are from financially weak backgrounds. In total, we have distributed Rs 759 crore under the scheme since it launch," he stated.
Jagan said that under the scheme, monetary benefits were originally to be extended to the beneficiaries a month ago, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Reports say that as many as 42,932 new beneficiaries had applied for the scheme this year. Out of the 2,48,468 beneficiaries, 59,692 are SCs, 1,38,372 are BCs, 9,910 are STs while 40,494 are OBCs.
