Loyalists of YSR district (formerly Kadapa) MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Saturday condemned the show-cause notice served on PCC general secretary Ambati Rambabu.
The Congress Disciplinary Committee on Friday had issued a notice to PCC general secretary Ambati Rambabu to appear before it on July 12 and explain his outburst against Chief Minister K Rosaiah. The notice was issued after 20 Pradesh Congress Committee office-bearers filed a complaint against Rambabu for criticising Rosaiah. Rambabu had said that it was wrong for the CM to celebrate his own birthday on a grand scale within a year of the death of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
The staunch YSR family loyalist had also criticised Rosaiah for not supporting Jagan's Odarpu Yatra. He had said that ideally Rosaiah should have taken out the Odarpu yatra.
Rambabu's comments had led to the Chief Minister lashing out against his party colleagues for not effectively rebutting the charges made against him at a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party to pay homage to YSR on his birth anniversary on Thursday.
Now, talking to media persons, former MLA Bajireddy Govardhan termed the show-cause notice as a conspiracy. He vowed to fight the conspirators even if he had to go up to the level of All India Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Bajireddy further said that he wanted to remind that the office-bearers had not acted when senior leaders of the party had made "derogatory" comments against Union Law Minister and In-Charge of Party Affairs of the state, Veerappa Moily. He termed this as double standards prevailing in the Congress party.
Bajireddy's words were echoed by PCC Kisan Cell convenor Gattu Ramachandra Rao, who said that the office-bearers who complained against Ambati did not open their mouths when some leaders of the party said that Congress candidates would lose their deposits in the by-elections.
