Suspended Pradesh Congress Committee secretary Ambati Rambabu charged that some party leaders were bent on trying to politically wipe off the family members of former chief minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
Talking to media persons at the Somajiguda Press Club on Thursday, the staunch Jagan supporter, without naming anyone, said that the Congress leaders are trying their best to get the young MP expelled from the party.
Ambati alleged that the anti-Jagan camp is spreading rumours that Jagan would announce the formation of his own political party on September 2.
Denying that Jagan has any plans for the formation of any new party or of leaving the Congress, Ambati described the Kadapa MP as mature enough not to get caught in the trap of his detractors or make any provocative speeches.
The suspended PCC secretary said that Jagan has the wherewithal to face his detractors and emerge the winner.
He said that Jagan had not taken up the Odarpu Yatra for any political benefit or motive but it was to only to fulfill his words that he had given at Nallakaluva. Ambati said that the Odarpu Yatra should not be viewed through a political prism since it was a question of a son's duty towards his father.
Ambati further said that he found it absurd to have been suspended from the PCC for making remarks against chief minister K Rosaiah and said it was not wrong to call a spade a spade. He wondered how it was seen as wrong to make legitimate comments.
He recalled that many people had made critical comments against YSR when he was in power, but no action was taken against them.
Hinting that it was only because of the unfortunate death of YSR that Rosaiah was made the chief minister, the suspended PCC secretary said that present chief minister is enjoying the benefits of the hard work of his predecessor, who had worked hard to bring the Congress back to power in the state not once, but twice in succession.
He maintained that he had still not got any orders of his suspension from the PCC secretary's post. He also said that if the news about his suspension was true, then it was an arbitrary decision taken without any witness or any proof.
The suspended PCC secretary also said that the APCC does not have the power to issue a show-cause notice to former minister Konda Surekha, and advised the party Disciplinary Committee to refresh itself with the party rules and regulations.
