YSR Congress Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today condemned the midnight raids on the houses of his party workers by the police without any search warrants.
Speaking at Arya-Vysya Atmeyaa Sabha at Nandyal on Saturday as part of the party's campaigning for the Nandyal Assembly constituency by-election, Jagan said that the police raids were an effort by the Chandrababu Naidu government to criminally intimidate the YSRCP workers.
"The police raids are TDP's way of frightening women and children. A large number of police personnel descended on the houses of my party workers without any warrant and searched the houses. What did they find? The police seized Rs 10,000 in one instance and Rs 20,000 in another instance. Isn't there a procedure to follow while conducting raids?" he asked.
Jagan said that the police raided the houses of YSRCP workers Satyanarayana, Ramesh, Amrutraj, Nagireddy, Jagadishwar Reddy, Ramalinga Reddy, Lakshminarayana, Bala Hussain and Bhuvaneshwar. YSRCP candidate for the election Shilpa Mohan Reddy and leaders of Nandyal's Arya Vysya associations were present.
