Jagan Attacks Chandrababu Naidu Again

Accuses Naidu of promising the moon since these are his last elections, and since Naidu anyway does not fulfill his promises.
Hyderabad | 21st April 2014
Continuing his diatribe, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in an election rally today said that TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu could stoop to any level and promise the moon as these were going to be his last elections, and appealed to the people to elect a leader who has credibility and honesty, and who is known for keeping election promises.

"Chandrababu Naidu is desperate and is languishing in frustration, which is prompting him to dole out impracticable promises though his dreaded past haunts him. Promising anything and everything before the elections and forgetting them after the polls has been his nature, which was why he was rejected by the people since 2004," Jagan said on a campaign at Kandukuru (Prakasam district).

"I have inherited the qualities of YSR who was a model Chief Minister in the country in carrying out welfare measures and putting the economy on the development track. I will continue his approach and reach out to all sections of the people," he added, and appealed to the people to vote for the YSRCP's fan symbol to bring in a welfare state.

"Naidu has been promising to provide one job per family unmindful of the fact that there are 3.5 crore families in the state and that in the 60-year period after independence only 20 lakh jobs have been provided till now. His deceit is more pronounced when he says this as he was the person who has closed down 65 PSUs in the name of disinvestment and rendered 26,000 workers jobless. His government was very harsh when the Anganwadi employees were on strike demanding an increase in their pay.

"He is promising to waive off agriculture and DWCRA loans which account for Rs. 1.5 lakh crores. This is impossible and he is only trying to fool people, as the annual revenue of the state is only Rs. 1.25 lakh crores. He has been of the habit of promising everything before the polls and forgetting them after elections.

"He did away with the Rs. 2 kg rice scheme and increased the rice price to Rs. 5.25, and he scrapped prohibition and encouraged belt shops. He grabbed power from NTR through the backdoor and is now invoking his name for the elections.

"If Naidu had been so sincere about welfare, why he did not implement a single scheme while he was Chief Minister?

"When he was the Chief Minister for 9 years, people underwent hardships as pensions and houses were allotted on the quota system which resulted in meagre offerings. Education and medicare had been very costly, and the poor were driven to indebtedness for educating their wards and providing treatment to family members.

"He gave a letter asking to divide the state and joined hands with Sonia Gandhi for that purpose, and his MPs went on record that they were the first to vote for a separate state. There were celebrations too in that part of the state in his Party. Now he comes to this region and sings a different tune. This type of raw opportunism should be rejected.

"After I assume power as Chief Minister, I will sign 5 files which will change the course of the state. Amma Vodi is a scheme which will provide Rs. 1,000 to a mother for educating 2 children. We will also increase the old age pension to Rs. 700, provide a Rs. 3,000-crore Market Stabilisation Fund, waive DWACRA loans and decentralize administration.

"This apart, the Aarogyasri scheme will be strengthened, and Rs. 3,000 will be given to people who are advised rest during the post-surgery period," Jagan said.

While he was speaking, a 108 ambulance passed through, amidst cheers from the public since YSR had brought in 108.

"Providing 150 units of power for Rs. 100, and converting AP into a power surplus by 2019, besides building 50 lakh houses in 5 years, are the other issues on our agenda," Jagan said, and appealed to the people to vote for the YSRCP's fan symbol. (INN)
