In her YSR Janaberi rally at Kadapa, the YSR Congress Honorary President alleged that the TDP manifesto was full of impracticable schemes.
Upping the ante against the TDP President, YSRCP Honorary President Y S Vijayamma said today in Kadapa that his manifesto was full of impracticable schemes, and that Chandrababu Naidu has never shown concern towards the poor but only helped his close associates to further their business interests while YSR had been a role model CM in balancing welfare with development.
Naidu has come to town with promises like waiver of loans which is an impossible task as it is a Central subject, she alleged. People have seen a dark age in his 9-year term where he neither brought in a Rs. 100 crore industry nor built a major project though he staked claim for being the kingmaker at Delhi, she scornfully added.
"He has always worked to the benefit of his close associates, and only doled out empty promises to people as he has failed to implement the girl child education scheme, the cash transfer scheme and the one crore-sop schemes. He has made a mockery of BC welfare by diverting Rs. 650 cores from the BC Corporation to his cadre and throwing crumbs at the artisans. He has promised to build hostels to BC students but did not keep up his word.
"He cannot seek votes promising that he will bring back the 9-year rule as it is littered with suicides, drought, neglect of agriculture, overzealous publicity and imposing harsh measures on farmers.
"He wrote in his book Mee Kosam that government jobs are a mere waste of money and encouraged contract jobs. In the name of disinvestment he threw out some 20,300 workers by closing profit-making PSUs and transferring them to his business associates," she said as part of her YSR Janaberi here on Thursday.
"He was harsh on students, anganwadi workers and farmers, and mocked the YSR's idea of free power. On the contrary, YSR had changed the landscape of the state by providing free power to farmers, waiving power dues, launching welfare schemes like Jalayagnam and Aarogyasri, pressing 108 ambulances into service, and creating the pavala vaddi scheme to empower women, among others.
"He had built 600 hostels for boys and girls belonging to the weaker sections, two each in an assembly constituency.
"He has the record of being the only Chief Minister in the country to carry out all the welfare schemes without imposing any fresh taxes, or increasing prices or tariffs that affect the common man. He had increased pensions and expressed concern for the welfare of SCs, STs, weaker sections and minorities, who were given 4% reservation in jobs and reservations.
"YSR's welfare schemes have benefited all sections of people in all the 23 districts of the state. Pulichintala and other projects were chalked out by YSR to benefit this region but the Congress government had no time or will to complete them as it was busy in the division of the state.
"Chandrababu Naidu has been staking false claims that he had developed Hyderabad city. It was during YSR's term that the Outer Ring Road, International Airport, express highways and other such infrastructure was developed.
"No wonder Naidu will stake claim for all the welfare schemes of YSR as well. He has been telling that he was responsible for creating the IT hub in Hyderabad, but reality is that during his term the State dropped from third to fifth place in terms of IT exports.
"He can also stake claim for building some of historic monuments in Hyderabad, which was the fifth largest city even when he was a kid," she said.
"Kiran Kumar Reddy has helped the Centre in dividing the state, and is now trying to project himself as a champion of a united state, while Chiranjeevi has mortgaged his 17 MLAs and the 70 lakh voters for the sake of a berth in the union cabinet.
Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will continue all the welfare schemes of his father and has made five promises which he will fulfill. Amma Vodi will provide education to two children from each family, old age pensions will be increased from Rs. 200 to Rs. 700 per month, a Market Stabilisation Fund will be set up to ensure MSP to farmers, DWCRA loans will be waived, and the administration will be taken to the door steps of the poor," she said.
Recalling that the local people had given Jagan a thumping majority in the Lok Sabha by-elections, she appealed to them to give a similar mandate to all YSRCP candidates in the municipal, mandal, Zilla Parishad, Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Drinking water and sanitation would be the main local issues that would be addressed, she concluded. (INN)
