Named as the 4th accused in the 5th chargesheet filed by the CBI in YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's disproportinate assets case, to resign or not to resign in the question foremost on the mind of Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy. Even with the opposition parties jumping into the fray demanding her resignation, Indra Reddy has already announced that she will submit her resignation on moral grounds.
However, several ministers, including PCC Chief Botsa Satyanarayana, have advised the Home Minister not to resign as of yet, and to wait until there is further progress in the case. A meeting was held today, attended by the CM, the PCC Chief, Indra Reddy, and a few other ministers to talk about this very issue.
Talking to the press after the meeting, Botsa said, "We have advised her not to resign. We believe that she has done no wrong, and are sure that she will come out of the case unscathed."
The chargesheet contains allegations of irregularities in the transfer of a mining lease from Eswar Cements to Dalmia Cements, which had taken place when Indra Reddy held the position of Mines and Geology Minister during Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's regime.
Indra Reddy was also named in the OMC mining scam, but managed to wiggle out of it. Also, she is the third Congress minister to have been accused in Jagan's DA case, the other two being Mopidevi Venkataramana who is currently under arrest, and Dharmana Prasada Rao, who continues to be in office as the Roads & Buildings Minister.
