Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy asked the officials of the state to impose restrictions to prevent the spread of the newly-found Omicron variant of the novel coronavirus.
He issued these orders during a review meeting on the spread of the new variant.
The officials of the health and medical department of the state told the CM that they would set up a gene-sequencing lab in the state in a week.
They also told the CM that they were carrying out a fever survey in the state, and that they would also set up 144 PSA plants in the government hospitals.
The CM then asked the officials to compete the ongoing Covid vaccination process as soon as possible, and complete it by the end of January. He opined that 100% vaccination was the only solution for the prevention of the spread of the virus.
He also asked the officials to bring in an app for the effective use of Aarogyasri services, and make arrangements for the clarification of the doubts of the people of the state through the app.
Speaking further, he asked the officials to complete the process of the establishment of new medical colleges in the state, and added that three super-speciality hospitals should be set up at three different places of the state, to help the people avoid going to far-off places for availing themselves of super-speciality services.
The CM also inquired about the filling up of vacant posts in government hospitals. Responding to this, the officials told the CM that they would complete the recruitment process by the end of January.
