Former Congress minister J C Diwakar Reddy, on Wednesday, said that political leaders from Kurnool and Anantapur districts are in favour of a Rayala-Telangana state.
Talking to media persons in the Assembly premises, Diwakar Reddy said that Rayalaseema leaders were in favour of the formation of Rayala-Telangana although the coastal Andhra leaders were opposed to a bifurcation of the state.
He said that he would take this proposal to the Congress High Command in New Delhi after consulting all leaders from the region.
Even the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, MIM and Left parties were in favour of this proposal, he claimed.
Apart from solving the water problem, a merger wiith Telangana would also develop Anantapur and Kurnool districts, he opined.
Responding to a question, Diwakar Reddy said that Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu did not respond favourably to this proposal. In the event of bifurcation of state, the TDP would be completely wiped out from the state, he said. (INN)
