It's Not Musi Beautification, It's Musi Rejuvenation: CM
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy said that what the Congress government was embarking upon was not the beautification of the Musi river, but its rejuvenation.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy today said that what the Congress government was embarking upon was not the beautification of the Musi river, but its rejuvenation.
Speaking to the media at Secretariat, the CM said that the State government had taken up the Musi rejuvenation project to give a better life to those who were living along the river, and to create wealth and employment in the State.
"There is no other capital in this country where a river runs through the city like one does in Hyderabad. The Musi that flows for about 300 km has a lot of history and uniqueness. What we are doing is not the beautification of the Musi. It is the revival of the river," Reddy said.
He alleged that BRS leaders were spewing venom at the project and were misleading the people for petty political gains.
"The officials have recognised the hardships of the people living along the Musi river. A total of 33 official teams visited the slum areas and enquired about their problems. Those people have been assured the double-bedroom houses and other compensation for being made to vacate their homes. A majority of the people are extending their support to the government, but the opposition parties are creating obstacles to the project," Reddy claimed.
"Five prestigious companies have been combinedly hired to prepare a detailed project report for the project. The state government has so far spent only Rs 141 crore on the project. The DPR will be given in 18 months, with an estimate of the cost of project and other details including generation of employment, mobilisation of revenue and the timeline of the project," the CM added.
He added that the project would determine the future of Telangana, and that the State government would develop Hyderabad to compete with the world.
