Hyderabad | 8th November 2024
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy walked several kilometres along the Musi river in Yadadri Bhongir district today.
Addressing the gathering later, he said, "Today's rally is just the trailer. The main event is coming. Starting in January 2025, I'll lead a padayatra with lakhs of people from Wadapally to Hyderabad. I challenge the opposition to face us, or the people will decide their fate."
Addressing the deteriorating condition of the river and its impact on local communities, the Chief Minister emphasized his government's commitment to reviving the river.
"Musi, which once provided clean water, has now become a waste-filled channel, spreading toxicity," he said. "The people living along its banks wonder if the negligence of leaders or some divine curse that has brought this suffering. They long for the Musi's revival."
"Traditional livelihoods are now impossible. Fish cannot survive in these waters, crops grown here are unsafe to consume, and even livestock milk is suspect," he added.
Reddy also claimed that former farmers were forced to sell their lands due to these conditions.
Criticizing BRS leaders for hindering the Musi rejuvenation project, he said, "They know only exploitation and looting, not service. That's why they oppose the project. Those who claim they'll block the bulldozers, give us their names. I'll bring the people of Nalgonda and clear the path myself. Visiting here gives my life purpose, and I vow to bring life back to the Musi river."
