In the backdrop of the fast-approaching Telangana December 7 Assembly elections, sleuths of the Income Tax department on Thursday conducted raids at over dozen places related to some real estate companies and a city-based biscuits and cookies manufacturing company, belonging to TDP leaders/supporters, claiming tax evasion.
The IT authorities organized raids on the premises of biscuit manufacturer Ravi Foods, which has been into the processed food segments of biscuits, cookies, confectionery, wafers, chocolates and candies for 30 years, and supplies food products under the brand names Dukes, Treff and Dynas. Informed sources said that the IT officials also conducted searches at the houses of the promoters of Ravi Foods.
DSA Builders & Constructions Private Limited with its office at Somajiguda is reportedly linked to Ravi Foods. One of the designated directors/partners of DSA Builders happens to be Veerender Goud Toolla, a son of former home minister Toolla Devender Goud. Veerender Goud is a TDP candidate who is contesting from the Uppal Assembly constituency. Recently, IT sleuths had also conducted raids on Devendar Goud's companies in north Andhra Pradesh.
Some 20 teams of IT officials raided the places and conducted searches from morning to evening. They also searched the house of Shanta Sriram's Managing Director Maddi Narsaiah and reportedly seized several incriminating documents.
