Hyderabad | 2nd November 2023
IT raids ahead of the Assembly elections in Telangana are creating a stir.

On Thursday morning, IT officials conducted raids at several locations in Hyderabad.

There was a raid at the residence of Congress leader Parijatha Narasimha Reddy in Balapur. Parijatha, who is the Mayor of Badangpet, had expected a ticket from the Congress for the Maheshwaram Assembly constituency seat. She is in Tirupati and her husband Narasimha Reddy is in Delhi. 10 to 15 teams conducted the searches at the residences of Parijatha's family members and relatives, and raids were held since 5 am.

Searches were also conducted at the residence of Kichchennagari Lakshma Reddy, who did get the Congress ticket for the Maheshwaram constituency.

Raid also happened at the house of Vangeti Laxma Reddy, who bought the famous Balapur Ganesh laddu at the 2022 auction, and at the house of Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy's brother-in-law and real estate businessman Giridhar Reddy in Kokapet.

It is being reported that searches were conducted at the residences of several other political leaders of the State, too. According to reports, the searches were conducted after information being received that large amounts of cash and jewellery were stashed in the houses of the leaders.

Meanwhile, CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka alleged that the BJP leadership was behind raids on the houses of the Congress leaders to help the ruling BRS.

Several IT raids have happened in the recent months in Telangana. On June 14, IT officials conducted searches at the houses of BRS MLA Paila Shekhar Reddy. The searches were conducted in 15 companies on the suspicion that Reddy had made undisclosed investments. IT officials reportedly suspect that Reddy has ownership in many real estate companies.

On October 5, IT officials conducted searches at the residence of the brother of Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath. And on May 2, IT officials had conducted searches in several prominent garment shops in Hyderabad.
