Officials of the income tax department continued the raids on the premises of two BRS MLAs and a BRS MP for the second consecutive day today.
The searches were held at the residences of Bhuvanagiri MLA Pailla Shekhar Reddy, Nagar Kurnool MLA Marri Janardhan Reddy and MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy.
The raids on Shekhar Reddy were held at 12 locations, including his residences and offices in Bhongir town and at the Green Hills Colony, Kothapet, Hyderabad. IT officials verified his bank account statements, income and income tax returns. According to sources, the officials seized cash and some important documents from his residence.
Marri Janarthan Reddy runs several businesses under the names of JC Spinning Mills Pvt Ltd, JC Holdings Pvt Ltd and Marri Project Pvt Ltd, and all of them faced investigations. The raids were also held in Marri's Kothur Pipe Company.
IT officials served notices to MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy that he should cooperate if further investigation was required.
Meanwhile, supporters of the BRS staged protests opposing the raids and alleged that the act was a conspiracy of the BJP government at the Centre.
