With the visit of BCCI officials to inspect the grounds in the steel city, there appears to be a strong possibility of IPL matches being organized in the city.
The BCCI officials have been scouting for cities to hold IPL matches in following a recent directive by the Mumbai High Court to the Board to shift all the matches scheduled to be held in Maharashtra after April 30, outside the State. Since Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants need to find new home grounds now, the BCCI had given them four cities to pick from, and one of them is Visakhapatnam.
For those who came in late, the Mumbai High Court had directed the BCCI to shift the aforementioned IPL matches due to the drought situation prevailing in that State. The IPL matches which were to be held in Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur thus now need to be shifted to some other places in the country.
