The myth that the students of private colleges fare better than the students of government colleges is just that - a myth - if the 2011 intermediate 2nd year results are anything to go by.
Minister for Secondary Education K Parthasaradhi said that government colleges out-performed private colleges in the intermediate 2nd year results that were released yesterday.
While the government colleges recorded a pass percentage of 65, 62.4% of the students of private colleges passed their inter 2nd year.
While the pass percentage of the students of public colleges dropped by 1.4 as compared to last year's results, that of government colleges rose by 1.5.
Meanwhile, Parthasaradhi forbade all colleges, whether government or private, from advertising the ranks of their students. "Any college that states that its students have attained the top ranks in the state will be penalised," said Parthasaradhi.
May 9th has been set as the final day for the application of re-verification by students.
