In a tragic incident in an international school in Banjara Hills today, Meridian School, an Intermediate first year student was electrocuted while playing.
The local police said that the incident took place during lunch recess.
The affected student was admitted to a hospital, and is undergoing treatment. He been identified as Hassan.
Children in the school were playing during lunch recess when the incident took place. Hassan hit an iron rod adjacent to the transformer and was seriously injured in the electrocution that followed. The school management immediately admitted the student to the hospital.
The doctors at the hospital said 45% to 50% of the body of the student was injured in the incident. Two surgeries have reportedly already been done.
The student's parents expressed concern over the incident, and complained to the Banjara Hills police, who registered a case and have started investigation.
