The Congress, on Saturday, claimed that the 3-day Indiramma Bata program organized in Khammam district was a massive success, and that it received a huge response from the people despite objections to it raised by opposition parties.
Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office, AICC Secretary and Congress MLC P Sudhakar Reddy said that chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had launched several development programs in the district during the program.
Meanwhile, Sudhakar Reddy demanded appropriate compensation from the Centre for the people displaced by the Polavaram project. He said that nearly 220 villages under 12 mandals of Khammam district would be totally submerged due to the construction of the Polavaram project.
Reddy said that Indiramma Bata has infused enthusiasm into the Congress' cadres. He expressed confidence that the chief minister and PCC president B Satyanarayana would lead the party and the government with the same spirit in the future as well.
Saying that nominated posts would be filled with committed leaders of the party very soon, the AICC secretary said that the Congress would foil the attempts of opposition parties to cause differences among leaders of the ruling party. (INN)
