Independent candidates bag all the 6 legislative council seats in teachers' and graduates' constituencies.
Independent candidates won in all the 6 legislative council constituencies in the biennial elections held on March 13.
Teachers' constituencies: Balasubramanyam Vitapu polled 5,559 votes (out of 11,193) trouncing his rival Sakam Nagaraja for the Prakasam-Nellore-Chittoor seat.
Katepally Janardhan Reddy, polling 6,238 votes (out of 11,883), won the Mahabubnagar-Ranga Reddy-Hyderabad seat over Paturi Sudhakar.
Bachala Pullaiah polled 5,691 votes (out of 11,173), thereby winning the seat from Kadapa-Anantapur-Kurnool constituency, defeating his rival K Ramaswami.
Graduates' Constituencies: M V S Sharma who polled 31,657 votes (out of 68,542) won the Srikakulam-Vizianagaram-Visakhapatnam seat, defeating his rival Tumula Bhaskara Rao of the TDP.
Yandapalli Srinivasulu Reddy won the Prakasam-Nellore-Chittoor seat, polling 38,910 votes (out of 81,227), against his rival Desaisetty Hanumantha Rao of the TDP.
Dayanand M polled 44,343 votes (out of 78,220), winning over his rival Sajjala Sridhar Reddy for the Kadapa-Anantapur-Kurnool seat.
CEO Bhanwar Lal stated that 27 candidates were in the fray for the teachers' constituencies, while 44 participated in the election race for the graduates' constituencies.
813 votes were declared invalid in the teachers' constituencies, while in the graduates' constituencies 15,113 votes were invalidated
