Pradesh Congress president Dharmapuri Srinivas on Friday said that he was never in contention for a Rajya Sabha seat, and so has no regrets on not being named party nominee for the Rajya Sabha from the state.
Talking to media persons on Friday, Srinivas said that he was aware of the high command's policy of not nominating anyone who has lost an election, for the Rajya Sabha. Though he had led the Congress party to power for a second consecutive term, he could not win himself, in the 2009 elections to the state assembly, he said.
He said that it was only the media which had filed speculative reports that he was desirous of a Rajya Sabha nomination.
Meanwhile, reports of the PCC president making frequent trips to Nizamabad district and interacting with the voters there have aroused the interest of political observers. Political pundits are of the view that Srinivas is now looking at the Nizamabad by-elections to get back into the legislature.
