Abhishek Singhvi Files Nomination For Rajya Sabha From Telangana
The election looks a mere formality as the opposition parties, the BRS and the BJP, are staying away from the contest.

Senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi today filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha seat from Telangana.
Accompanied by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC Telangana in-charge Deepa Das Munsi, ministers, MLAs and party leaders, Singhvi submitted his nomination papers to the Returning Officer in the Assembly on Monday.
A total of four sets of nomination papers were filed.
The by-election was necessitated by BRS leader Keshava Rao resigning from his Rajya Sabha membership and joining the Congress with two years still left in his term.
The by-election will be held on September 3. However, the election looks a mere formality as the opposition parties, the BRS and the BJP, are staying away from the contest. Singhvi will thus soon be declared elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Telangana.
Speaking on the occasion, Singhvi expressed happiness at being nominated to the Rajya Sabha from Telangana, and said that he would continue to fight for the rights of Telangana in Parliament and the courts.
Earlier, a large number of ministers and Congress MLAs assembled at the Congress Legislature Party office on the premises of the Assembly from where the CM led the leaders to the Returning Officers chamber.
