Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, on Wednesday, took strong objection to the statements issued by Chief Minister K Rosaiah over his political career.
Talking to media persons at his residence, the Opposition leader said "I became Chief Minister through the democratic route, with the support of MLAs, and was not elevated to the Chief Minister's post like Mr. Rosaiah was with the sudden death of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy."
Naidu's statement is seen as a rejoinder to Chief Minister K Rosaiah's quip that he did not grab power by backstabbing his father-in-law like the TDP leader.
The TDP chief stated that he sought Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's appointment only to press people's problems and to discuss the MFI issue.
He said there was a tradition that the PM, when on a visit to any State, spends time with the Opposition leader there.
"Though the Prime Minister had completed the agenda for his visit 20 minutes earlier than scheduled, the State government failed to give me an appointment with him, which shows its callous attitude towards rge Opposition leader," he claimed.
Naidu alleged that the chief minister, who has no commitment towards farmers' problems, had submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister at the last minute without discussing any of their problems.
"I am doing my job as a responsible leader and helping the government. But the chief minister must maintain decency and uphold the dignity of his post instead of making derogatory remarks against the Opposition leader," he said.
Naidu reiterated that the TDP would continue its fight against people's problems and corruption.
