I V Subba Rao, Chief Electoral Officer, who earned laurels from various quarters for conducting the elections in a free and fair manner, was transferred to the Central Election Commission on Monday.

Formal orders were issued to this effect on Monday by the Centre.

Subba Rao is likely to take charge as Additional Secretary at Home Department on October 4th.

2 Assembly by-elections and 1 general election were conducted in a free and fair manner during his stint as the Chief Electoral Officer.

Subba Rao is presently preoccupied with publication of a book being brought out on the success story of the 2009 general elections in Andhra Pradesh.
