Minister For Information Technology Ponnala Lakshmaiah has been asked by the centre to visit New Delhi to discuss the state government's plans to develop an Information Technology corridor touching Madhapur, Uppal and Pocharam, with road, rail and air infrastructure in place.
Talking to media persons at the secretariat on Tuesday, Lakshmaiah said that the state government had requested the centre to accord sanction for setting up the I T project at an estimated investment to the tune of Rs. 2 lakh crores from IT majors .
As part of the expansion in the I T sector, the state submitted a report for sanction of Rs. 2,485 crores from the centre to clear pending I T projects.
Accordingly, Union Minister For Communications And HRD Kapil Sibal, who is in Hyderabad presently, asked Lakshmaiah to visit New Delhi on January 24th for holding discussions with the centre in this regard.
Lakshmaiah informed that a comprehensive report had already been submitted to the centre for considering the sanction of 80% of the funds for providing external infrastructure in 202 square km.
As part of this proposal, amounts to the tune of Rs. 87 crore for E-district project, Rs.105 crores for Treasury and Accounts, Rs. 19 crores for Employment Exchange under Labour Department, Rs. 27 crores for PR, Rs. 19 crores for Cooperatives, and Rs. 79 lakhs for Agriculture have been submitted to the centre for sanction.
