HYDRA officials today demolished a 4-km-long "illegal" compound wall built by Nalla Malla Reddy (NMR) around the Divyanagar layouts in Narapalli under the Pocharam municipality limits.
The officials demolished the wall early this morning using 12 bulldozers, ensuring unhindered access for residents to nearby colonies.
The operation, which adhered to legal provisions, was met with widespread applause from the local community, who expressed relief at the resolution of their long-standing grievance.
According to the officials, NMR had encroached upon government land to construct the wall, affecting 2,200 plot owners.
The move came after repeated complaints from local residents, including over 1,000 Singareni employees who own plots in the area. Revenue and municipal officials also confirmed the encroachments by NMR and assured residents that strict legal action would follow after the completion of a detailed investigation.
The residents alleged that NMR had constructed the wall illegally, restricting their movement by blocking access roads. The compound wall was built under the "pretense of security" and funded by collecting Rs 10.5 crore from plot owners as a development fee.
"This demolition is a significant step toward restoring the rights of plot owners and ensuring justice. We will take strong measures against illegal activities like these," said a HYDRA official.
