Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRA) Commissioner A V Ranganath today emphasized the collective responsibility of safeguarding public properties.
Speaking to the media at the Secretariat, Ranganath, along with Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration & Urban Development Dana Kishore, said that the primary goal of HYDRA was to protect lakes, canals and other public assets as per Article 21, which upheld the right to clean environment.
He stressed that misinformation about HYDRA was circulating on social media, and that HYDRA was protecting only public properties like rivers, lakes and canals. He disclosed that illegal properties had been demolished in 21 to 22 regions so far.
He also said that thousands of acres of government land in Ameenpur had been encroached upon, and that despite the demolition of an illegal structure there, it was quickly rebuilt, with false claims circulating that it housed a hospital, though it did not.
The Commissioner also highlighted the involvement of a few influential individuals in unauthorized constructions. He claimed that in Dundigal and Ameenpur, some individuals issued fake permits, and that cases had been registered against them. A Panchayat Secretary was suspended for their involvement in issuing fraudulent permissions, he added.
Ranganath urged the public not to portray HYDRA as a fearsome or intimidating organization. He said that HYDRA was a symbol of responsibility and trust, and that there was no other system like it in the country.
