City To Get "Swachch Clubs" For Garbage Disposal

In a bid to involve students in sanitary works, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy today said that "Swachch Clubs" would be set up in Hyderabad with the help of one lakh students to make the city garbage-free.
Besides, services of 32,000 GHMC employees would be utilized in creating awareness among the people about sanitation, he said, adding that each GHMC employee would give training to at least another 10 persons on how to segregate dry and wet garbage, who in turn educate people.
As part of Swachch Bharat Mission, the GHMC would conduct a survey next month in Hyderabad, he said while addressing a workshop in which additional, zonal and deputy commissioners, and health officers participated.
The State government distributed 44 lakh dustbins and deployed 2,000 Swachch auto tippers for collecting garbage door to door in the city, he said, adding that during survey program, citizens would be taught how to keep dry and wet garbage in separate dustbins.
The Commissioner also suggested involvement of Hyderabad brand ambassadors MP Kavitha, Sania Mirza, P V Sindhu, Gopichand, Tamannaah, Manchu Laxmi, Suddala Ashok Teja, industrialist Vetta Rameshwar Rao and others.
