Throwing Of Colours On Public On Holi Banned

The Hyderabad police have prohibited the throwing of colours on unwilling persons, places and vehicles from 6 pm on March 6 to 6 am on March 8.

Hyderabad City Commissioner of Police C V Anand has prohibited the throwing of colours or coloured water on unwilling persons, places and vehicles, or smearing unwilling people with colour, on public roads and public places in Hyderabad, from 6 pm on March 6 to 6 am on March 8, in connection with the Holi celebrations.

He also prohibited movement of two-wheelers and other vehicles in groups on streets and in public places disturbing the peace and order, and/or causing inconveniences, annoyance or danger to the public.

The Commissioner informed the public that any person violating the order would be liable for prosecution under Sec 76 of the Hyderabad City Police Act 1348 Fasil.

Wine and toddy shops, and bars attached to restaurants (excluding bars in star hotels and registered clubs), within the limits of Hyderabad and Secunderabad will also need to remain closed from 6 pm on March 6 to 6 am on March 8 on account of Holi.
