Tension At Gandhi Bhavan As Cops Arrest Congress Activists
TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka and senior party leader Shabbir Ali squatted on the road and raised slogans against the State government.
Tension prevailed on the premises of Gandhi Bhavan for two hours today after the police did not allow the Congress activists to organize a rally against the Citizenship Amendment Act.
The police insisted that the Congress leaders, who were coming out to hold the rally to the Ambedkar statue at Tank Bund despite the police declining permission for the rally, turn back.
TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka and senior leader Shabbir Ali then squatted on the road and raised slogans against the State government, and Bhatti Vikramarka got into an argument with the police.
The leaders also all staged a "satyagraha" at Gandhi Bhavan. That resulted in the police arresting party several activists.
The Congress leaders said that all groups were losing in the KCR regime. They also said that the Congress was the strongest of all parties competing in the upcoming elections to the 12,000 gram panchayats, and that it would win the elections.
