In a late-night operation today near the Prasads IMAX open ground, the Commissioner's Task Force, Central Zone, along with the Saifabad police, arrested three drug peddlers and seized 100 grams of brown sugar and 1.35 kg of dry ganja worth around Rs 23.5 lakh.
The arrested individuals were Mohd Gulam Jilani, Suleman Khan and Feroz Bin Ali alias Sahil.
The police also recovered seven mobile phones and a motorcycle from their possession.
According to DCP Vaibhav Gaikwad Raghunath, investigations revealed that Feroz and Suleman were procuring brown sugar from Jilani at Rs 5,000 per gram and selling it to consumers for up to Rs 10,000 per gram. The duo reportedly admitted to selling drugs to a man who later died due to an overdose, a case already registered at the Rajendranagar PS.
Jilani had reportedly sourced the narcotics from Odisha through a contact named Afsar, purchasing 115 grams of brown sugar and 1.35 kg of ganja for Rs 3.5 lakh before transporting it to Hyderabad.
The accused and the seized contraband have been handed over to the Saifabad police for further action.
