The sleuths of the SOT today arrested a gang involved in the trafficking of drugs in Telangana.
The gang was involved in the illegal trafficking of banned cannabis.
Revealing the details of the operation, Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh Bhagwat said that they had arrested the gang following a tip-off from the intelligence wing of the state.
He said that the gang members were transporting the drugs from Vizag to Maharashtra in Innovas and Tata vehicles, and that the police seized 1,240 kgs of cannabis from them.
The value of the seized drugs was Rs. 2.8 crore in the open market, he claimed.
The police also seized three vehicles, Rs. 5,000 in cash, two mobile phones and six plastic bags from the accused, he added.
The police have arrested three gang members, and three other members are at large. The police have launched a manhunt for the other three gang members.
The main accused in the case Shaik Yasin alias Feroz was operating a travel agency, Bhagwat said.
