Several international athletes will be seen in action in the Hyderabad Heritage Marathon, which will be held on Sunday.
The tournament, which has Rs. 12 lakh up for grabs as prize money, is being held under the joint auspices of the Hyderabad 10K Run Foundation and the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department.
The event is divided into 2 categories: the half marathon and the full marathon. A team championship award has been instituted in both the categories.
Uma Chigurupati, the Convenor of the event, told reporters in Hyderabad on Friday that international participants, from among the 1,000 who have already confirmed their entries, include runners from Ethiopia, Kenya, Japan and the United States.
The full marathon is likely to be flagged off at 4:30am at the
Chowmahalla Palace. It will culminate at
Qutb Shahi Tombs.
The half-marathon will begin and wind up at the same places, although the route will be different from that of the main event. (INN)
