West Zone Police team catches gang of gamblers in Somajiguda.
Between the 16th and the 17th of February, 2014, the West Zone police team of Hyderabad received credible information that some people were indulging in 3-cards gambling in Room No.628 on the 6th Floor, Katriya Hotel, Somajiguda, Hyderabad, and were using the place as a common gaming house.
The West Zone Task Force raided the said premises and found a group of 14 people gambling,led by Rahul Jain (25), son of Prakash Jain, and a resident of Himayath Nagar, Hyderabad.
The 14 other people were also arrested.
During the enquiry, Rahul Jain confessed that he has also been selling second-hand bikes at Ram Koti, Hyderabad, but that the income was not sufficient to meet his family expenses, and so, he had hatched a plan to organize a gaming house and earn more money by taking commission from the players.
Then, he had taken Room No.628 on the 6th floor of the Katriya Hotel, Somajiguda, Hyderabad, and had started an illicit gaming house, subsequently collecting commission for each game from the players.
During the raid, the police seized around Rs. 60,040, 15 cell phones and playing cards, room-booking receipts, and one photocopy of each accused person's voter ID card.
The accused, along with the seized material, were handed over to the SHO, Panjagutta police station, Hyderabad.
The raid was made under the supervision of Sri K Ramchandran, Addl Dy Commissioner of Police. (INN)
