The WestZone task force nabs 14 people for gambling.
The West Zone team of the Commissioner?s Task Force raided a gambling den and took 14 people into custody for allegedly playing three-cards gambling, a game of chance, by forming into two groups.
On receiving credible information, the police conducted a raid at Hotel Sri Rama Deluxe Lodge/Residency located opposite to the S R Nagar Community Hall.
Those taken into custody during the raid have been identified as Y Ramulu, M V Krishna Rao, C Srinivas Reddy, G Laxminaryana, P Suresh, P Santosh, D Abbas, C Mahesh Chandra Kumar Reddy, T Shanker, S Damodar, V H Suresh, P Ravinder and Pradhan Bhasker.
According to the police, during the enquiry, it came to light that one of the accused - Mahesh Chandra Kumar Reddy - who is the owner of the lodge had been incurring losses in the business for the past few months, and was therefore conducting gambling in his lodge. He was taking rents and kit amount for each game and was earning illegal money.
On Tuesday evening, Mahesh gathered his friends in the premises of the hotel, and after the accused had split into two gorups, and were playing 3-cards gambling, the Task Force marched in, caught them, and seized an amount of Rs 55,000, some cell phones, and packs of playing cards from the possession of the accused people.
The arrested accused people, along with the material that was seized, were handed over to the S R Nagar Police Station for necessary action. (INN)
