Hyderabad | 31st October 2020
Alleging that the financial aid being given by the state government had been stopped, scores of flood victims from the city staged a protest before the residence of Uppal MLA Kaleru Venkatesh, of the TRS.

They alleged that the monetary relief was given only to the TRS workers and supporters.

One of the victims even tried to immolate himself by pouring kerosene on his body. Alert police officers and the local people prevented him from going through with the act.

Separately, some victims also staged protests at the GHMC Uppal circle office and the Khairatabad Zonal Commissioner's office demanding monetary relief.

They raised slogans against the TRS and the state government, and said that they had not received any help from the government despite losing everything during the recent floods.

Elsewhere, flood victims, mostly women, from the Mylardevpally area staged a protest before the residence of Rajendra Nagar MLA T Prakash Goud.

They alleged that the officials of the area had siphoned off funds meant for them.
