HCS Demands Action Against MLA
Hyderabad Civil Society representatives allege that Jagga Reddy had made objectionable comments using unparliamentary language against Congress MP Vivek.
The Hyderabad Civil Society on Monday demanded stern action government whip and Sangareddy MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy alias Jagga Reddy for his comments on Congress MP G Vivek.
Addressing a press conference at Somajiguda Press Club, Hyderabad Civil Society representatives - Retired IAS Hasnuddin Ahmed, managing editor of Siasat Daily Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, OPCLC's C L Yadigiri, OUJAC spokesperson M Kishan and others - alleged that Jagga Reddy had made certain objectionable comments using unparliamentary language against Congress MP Vivek.
They demanded that the Sangareddy MLA be booked under the SC, ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act.
They also alleged that Jagga Reddy had played a key role in engineering communal riots in Sangareddy, and that he had been harassing Muslim youth in his constituency.
They said that a research scholar of Tata Institute Of Social Sciences, Sharib Ali, was harassed by the police following one of Jagga Reddy's "baseless complaint". They said that Sharib Ali had come to Hyderabad only to study terror-related cases.
Further, the Society demanded that the state government address the issue of communal bias among Andhra Pradesh police to reinstate the trust of the Muslim community in the organs of the state. They said that legal action must be initiated against police officials who had implicated innocent youth in the Mecca Masjid blast case, fabricated evidence and registered false cases on them. They said action that should be taken against the guilty police officials as recommended by the National Commission for Minorities to ensure that justice is done. (INN)
