The city of Hyderabad celebrated Bakrid on Monday, with characteristic religious fervour.
The city's idgahs and masjids were full with devotees. Hyderabad City Police Commissioner A K Khan visited the idgah at Bahadurpura for prayers.
A K Khan wished Hyderabad for Bakrid, and said that the festival has passed off peacefully in the city.
He said that the police departments successfully implemented the crowd control measures and security arrangements, along with traffic curbs, that were planned for the festival.
Bakrid is a festival of sacrifice celebrated by Muslims to commemmorate Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail for God, before God provided him a sheep to sacrifice instead.
