The Madhapur police today cracked the whip on activists of the Bajrang Dal for ransacking furniture and damaging properties at malls and hotels where special programs to celebrate Valentine's Day were slated to be held yesterday.
The police slapped cases against eight activists of the right wing organization.
The police also took several activists into custody.
The cases were booked after a complaint by the managements of the malls and the restaurants that suffered monetary losses due to the attacks.
Following this, the leaders of the Bajrang Dal staged a protest before the Madhapur police station demanding the release of their activists from police custody.
The Bajrang Dal had over the last week been calling upon the youth and the young couples of the state not to celebrate Valentine's Day and instead commemorate the sacrifices of the Pulwama terror attack martyrs.
